Creek Show is a retrospective of my summer at the Cub Creek Foundation, where I further explored the possibilities of raw clay as both material and subject.

Attempting to demonstrate the characteristics of its natural state, all pieces have been left externally unglazed so that the viewer can see and interact with the natural textures produced by the clay and making process. This exhibition is attempting to highlight these natural qualities, letting the material’s raw, often unprocessed state become central to how the work is experienced.

The works in this show demonstrate the clay’s natural separation patterns, its responses to both soda ash and wood ash, and its characteristics when blended in 10% increments with other materials. Alongside these more experimental pieces are functional bowls thrown with unprocessed clay from North Carolina.
